Liverpool-based trio Seagoth have just released their highly anticipated single, ‘Methuselah,’ today on Bytes, offering a taste of their forthcoming debut album, ‘How to Stay Wide Awake,’ set to be released in the Autumn. The single will also feature a remix by the most excellent Maps – renowned musician James Chapman from Mute – which is out on July 12th.

‘Methuselah’ showcases the band’s growth and confidence with its blend of New Age-inflected indie rock, characterised by powerful guitar riffs and dynamic electronic elements. Written and produced by Georgia Ochoa, the 22-year-old guitarist and lead vocalist, the song serves as a reminder to embrace the passage of time and prioritise personal growth.

Inspired by the biblical figure of Methuselah, Georgia found the concept of a human living for nearly a thousand years to be a poignant symbol of her own anxiety. Although not typically drawn to religious themes, she was intrigued by the lore and its ironic relevance.

Seagoth, consisting of Georgia, bassist and vocalist Hannah Gannon, and drummer Oscar Hellewell, draw inspiration from Tame Impala, Alt-J, and MGMT with their genre-bending DIY sound and poetic lyrics.

Catch Seagoth live at various venues, including Jimmy’s in Liverpool, Alexander’s Live in Chester, and the WIMIN festival in Bootle. Their performance at Quarry in Liverpool on August 12th promises to be a highlight.
