8 Tracks: To Wake Up Next To A Witch On A Sunday Morning With Slow Porn

Music

Just over a year since their tasty EP, DJ and production duo Slow Porn have returned to My Favorite Robot with a new compilation album. The duo are Meant Records label boss Remain, and fellow Frenchman and La dame Noir label head honcho, Phred Noir who have shared many booths together over several years. The compilation features their own collaborations, but is also a collection from artists including Fairmont, Richard Norris, Rodion, Rework, Amevicious and Kieran Holden. Describing their experimental collection as "a filthy groove, slow-paced mood music for confidential and undisclosed dancefloors", it touches on space disco and kosmiche, French spoken word and slow motion house. Here the guys share a supernatural selection perfect for those sleepy weekend sunrises.

Various Artists – Slow Porn présente Prise de Vue 1 is released by My Favorite Robot Records on 3rd February 2017 and can be pre-ordered HERE. They are performing at Alfresco Festival, Tunbridge Wells on 26 – 29 May 2017 and tickets can be found HERE.

Jozef Van Wissem & Jim Jarmusch - Apokatastasis (Restoration)

“Slow Porn” being all about slow music & indecent visions, it comes as no surprise to start this 8 tracks storytelling with the union of a musician and a movie director…
This tune brings the rooting of the project to life and comes from a very evocative LP whether it’s about the music, or simply about it’s name: “From The Entrance Into Eternity”.

  • Farah - Into Eternity

“Into eternity”, Farah utters prayers & spells on repeat and her nonchalant mantra is laid over the kind of industrial disco beat we love to f*ck with…
From our point of view, La Madone de Italians Do It Better would have been, in other times, the ideal choice for the “Taxi Driver” OST, and she is most definitely the perfect witch to wake up with.

  • Mary Ocher - Thunderbird/Eden (Parts I-Ii)

She is such a character. Another one. She goes straight to the core. Witchcraft. This is all about the spells, the incantation, the journey. Another side of it. And there’s more.
Please make sure you give a proper listen to this new LP of hers that’s getting a release these days (and goes even beyond what we were expecting). When madness stands for pure genius, she is the one.

  • Nina Simone Vs. Cementary - Lulu Rouge Bootleg

This dramatic feeling we get out of listening to those Nina Simone prophecies, while coming back from the afterlife.
The darkened jazzy mood and the lurking beats remind us that getting out of bed in such a condition is the wrong move. Always. Whoever the witch is. Or whatever. Your choice of addiction, not ours.

  • La Bellini - Satan In Love

Wild and captivating. Black, Dark, Disco. She finally speaks after what seemed to be days, weeks. Time slowly stretches until this damn sunday morning becomes whole, while she finally opens up and shares…Just like she did in these worst nightmarish visions of yours. Remember you’re not in control. Never. Please trust us, just let go…

  • Psycheground - Traffic (1970)

Her turn now. You’re back, so time for you to say it loud: let it go, witch. Sunday mornings are not mournings. Italians playing like they’re in San Fran, when the incantations came from the guitars – and the flowers, or so they said – . Calm down witch. Now is your time to keep it cool and leave it to us.

  • Pete Namlook - Je Suis Triste Et Seul Ici

Pete Namlook, gone too soon, was getting deeper & darker with this one, he probably knew that the end of the party was close. The campfire was still burning, people still sitting around it but the faces were long gone… Make no mistake, with such a Sunday morning, things may have gone too far…

  • Timber Timbre - Black Water

Even though we all like to swim in “Black Water”, this ancient tale from Timber Timbre highlights the fact that we all crave for better tomorrows and that “all we need is the sun to rise again” which seems like a convenient way to close this playlist.
