8 Tracks: Of Space With Antenna Happy

Music

Based in Brighton Antenna Happy has been producing music for several years now, working on his craft, drawing on inspiration found in the music of Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. His tastes have evolved with time as he ran parties and found himself playing records in Bristol during the early nineties. We caught up with him for eight tracks of space.

Model 500 - No Ufo's

Who better than Juan Atkins to send us on our journey. Sublime techno from one of the founding fathers.

  • Model 500 - No Ufo's

Who better than Juan Atkins to send us on our journey. Sublime techno from one of the founding fathers.

  • Earth People - Reach Up To Mars

Reach up to Mars with this little gem from the early UK rave scene. Innocence and optimism from Earth People.

  • Sterac - Astronotes (Pt. 1&2)

Travelling to the outer reaches. This beauty from Steve Rachmad’s classic Secret Life of Machines is an all time favourite.

  • Sub Sub - Space Face

Calling all space cadets. Capsules ready! Euphoria with a healthy measure of silliness in this early 90s rave anthem. “My God! It’s full of stars!”

  • Carl Craig - Science Fiction

Not of this world. Science Fiction from one of techno’s finest.

  • Jeff Mills - Time After Space

It is impossible to join the dots between techno and space without arriving at Jeff Mills. Uncompromising and inimitable.

  • Orbital - The Girl With The Sun In Her Head

Recorded using solar power and released 20 years ago. Many Orbital tracks come to mind, but this one fits the bill perfectly.

  • Jmj & Richie - Universal Horn

I first heard this on LTJ Bukem’s seminal 1995 Essential Mix, and the whole thing blew me away. All at once I heard a universal horn.
