8 Tracks Of: Hypersensitivity With Valentino Mora
There is a gracious maturity to the musical output of Valentino Mora, the Berlin based producer has demonstrated a deeply rooted understanding of the fundamental principles of house music without being drawn into the eccentric bullshit which can sometimes come with. This is perhaps most visible through his own personal reflection on sound, drawing upon a penchant for spiritual house recorded in the 80's and 90's his sound is somewhat reminiscent of the likes of Dj Sprinkles, Jungle Wonz and the pre vocal era of Strictly Rhythm.
This month will see him release a new EP on DEMENT3D Records. We invited him to contribute to our 8 tracks series which he introduces as follows.
"Visualize your body with doors. Most people have keys or filters and can have control over these doors, but with hypersensitivity the doors are always open. This can be positive in the sense that we are able to express emotion and create, but the negative side, is that we feel everything too much and these open doors leave us unprotected and vulnerable.
When you dive into a river from extremely high and you are so deep that, when you look up, the light seems so far away. You are absolutely sure that you cannot make it out and will drown. But then you manage to do two strokes, and suddenly the light doesn’t seem so far and it gives you the hope to continue. And then you realize that it was easier than you thought and that you can get out of the water. But you have to first have this information to give you the initial push. This particular information is to perceive hypersensitivity as a tool.
The key is to understand how to open our doors when we want to create and to be able to put a safety mode on when we need to protect ourselves."
