Love Glove (aka OK Jones, Larjs Hans anc Rolfie) are skillfully riding in on the re-emerging disco wave. Having made a name for themselves as resident DJ’s at the much loved Corsica Studios, they are now beginning to emerge as genuine contenders along side more established names like Horsemeat Disco in a nicely poised scene. With their emphasis on vinyl only sets; they always manage to curate a good vibe blending crowd pleasers and rare grooves with the essential ingredient for any disco mix: fun.

Here the guys have picked out their top tunes they use to get things going.

Love Unlimited Orchestra - Midnight Groove

One hell of a smooth groove this one. Formed and produced by Barry White – The Love Unlimited Orchestra served as the backing band for Barry and his female vocalists Love Unlimited. The strings on this are next level. We’ve only managed to track this one down on the 1975 “Music Maestro Please” LP so if anyone’s seen a copy of the 7” knocking about grab it quick.

Hamilton Bohannon - Lets Start A Dance (Re-Edit)

Paul Raymond’s rework of Hamilton Bohannons 1978 beast “Let’s Start the dance” released on the Super Disco Breaks edits label certainly does what it says on the tin. Stretched out and rowdy, ending in some serious dance floor results.
(2012) John Davis & The Monster Orchestra - Up Jumped The Devil [6th Borough Project Rmx]

Another essential party starter 6th Borough project take what is already a dance floor re-energising track and extend the insane grove to a point you never want it to end. Released on Sam Records as part of the catalogue re works this 12” was still available on Juno last time we checked which is insane considering it dropped in 2012?! A must have for any disco and house lover.
Five Special - Why Leave Us Alone

Possibly one of our all-time favourite tracks this pretty much has everything you could need from a Disco record. As far as we’re aware this is the only hit from the Detroit 5 piece and it’s all about the full 10 minutes and 17 seconds of the long version!
C.O.M.B.I. - Tangled

An edit of James Bradley’s 1979 “Wrapped up in your Love” this beauty of a 12” from the mysterious (or not so mysterious) C.O.M.B.I is more than epic. We’re huge fans of all the C.O.M.B.I releases but and it’s hard to choose a favourite but this is definitely a contender.
Carrie Lucas - Dance With You

A Larj Hans favourite on Solar records, this 1979 release always makes the dance floor go completely crazy. The sample taken and used by Armand Van Helden on “You Don’t know me” definitely helps in getting this one through to the not so disco minded. The bass line is funky as hell and gets a little bit of time to show off later in the track. Don’t think this one will ever leave the Love Glove party sack.
Eddie C - O Ye

The newest release in our selection comes from one of our favourite edit and dance floor funk creators Eddie C. This one on the Africa shakedown ep #2 is more than perfect. Afro disco sampled Eddie has created an irresistible groove on this one. Never getting to noisy and going on for days. The Ep also features reworks and edits from Noema, Soft Rocks and the genius that is Axel Bowman. Well worth picking up a copy of this if you can dig out one of the last few knocking about.
Maurice Fulton - Revenge Of The Orange(Discfunction Records)

Crazy percussion a huge build up and in many ways completely mental but this A side from Maurice Fulton’s 1999 “Up” Ep released on Discfunction needs to be included in our list. When the wah wah guitar kicks in at around 3 mins 40 seconds everything becomes clear. Maurice Fulton letting us know why he is one of the true greats. Quite hard to find but if you ever do see one grab it quick!
