Sought after Victor Simonelli tracks set for reissue on new album

The House music pioneer is centre stage on the release of a new compilation album which showcases his work under various aliases and guises.

Behind The Groove are set to release a two part compilation celebrating the early years of Victor Simonelli, one of the most influential figures in New York House music and beyond. Over the years he has released a sprawling array of music on the likes of Nu Groove, UMM, Emotive, Tribal Records and many, many more.

His early work saw him release under an endless assortment of alter egos, many of which also featured collaborations and input from other influential producers and DJ’s. Many of these records remain highly sought after and hard to find, remaining as relevant and important to dance music in the present as they do the past.

The new compilation features work under the name of NY’s Finest, Cloud 9, Sixth Sense, Inner Faith and more.

In the early 90s alongside his own productions, Victor Simonelli worked on high profile projects, including James Brown’s album, “Love Overdue” BeBe and CeCe Winans single featuring Mavis Staples “I’ll Take You There” and Quincy Jones’ “I’ll Be Good To You” featuring Chaka Khan and the legendary Ray Charles. Never straying too far from his clubland roots, Victor worked with Danny Tenaglia on his classic “The Harmonica Track”.
