Morgan Zarate Hookid
Hyperdub kick off 2011 with a track that sounds pretty much how a time traveller from 1950 would have hoped tracks from 2011 would. Hookid is a totally modern concoction, flung together from some now familiar Hyoerdub elements- the woozing slurred melody lines, stumbling jitters of percussion, pulses of bass and a wink tipped to space age RnB. It may not be the most dramatic release the label has been responsible for, but it is another fine addition to their classy catalogue, and a product of a restless, questing, forward looking label.
