The independent radio stations have selected 18 pairs of artists who will collaborate as part of 25AV, an audiovisual and performance platform that encourage cross-border collaboration.

Following an open call in September, which asked artists working in the fields of music and visual arts to team up to create a brand new body of work, an independent committee have selected 36 successful artists from 14 different countries across Europe.

Chosen from a pool of 279 applicants based in 32 different countries, the artistic pairs will now create a 25 minute audiovisual work, which will be published on the 25AV platform and promoted through the Brussels’ Kiosk Radio, Milan’s Radio Raheem and Munich’s Radio 80000‘s channels from February 2023.

The selected roster includes Wiet Lengeler & Wilted Woman, Subrihanna & Belia Winnewisser, Pedro Maia & Pedro Vian and Daphne Rosenthal & Liew Niyomkarn. These artistic pairings will explore everything from 3D arts to anime and stop motion, as well as musical genres including ambient to experimental electronic and hip hop.

Alongside the resulting works, 25AV will broadcast a series of interviews highlighting the artist’s backgrounds and their process of collaboration. As a follow up to the online works, the station’s will also host a series of live audiovisual performances, talks and exhibitions in each of the radio station’s cities: art spaces in Brussels (iMAL) and Milan (Triennale Teatro) and a new centre for interdisciplinary arts in Munich (ZIRKA).
