German trio Carl Gari announce new double LP ft. Polygonia, Coby Sey & more
The German trio Carl Gari have announced a new self-titled double album, featuring guest artists including Dekmantel affiliate Polygonia, experimental hip hop group Dälek, British artist Coby Sey, Munich percussionist Simon Popp and New York rap pioneer Sensational.
Continuing their incursions into techno, d’n’b, post-rock, industrial music, and punk, ‘Carl Gari‘ is billed as a synthesis between raw electronic music and distorted guitar-based idioms, full of “pulsating basslines, analog drum machines, tape delays, and intricate effect chains“.
Recorded in a remote, now demolished house in the Bavarian Forest, the album is said to be inspired by the untold atmosphere of this location, and features artwork shot at the house. The trio have incorporated the use of their own vocals for the first time.
The album follows a series of acclaimed collaborative releases with the Egyptian artist Abdullah Miniawy for labels including AD 93 and The Trilogy Tapes. We previously interviewed Carl Gari and Miniawy here. The album is described as a watershed release, heralding a new era for the trio.
Released on the 15th May via the Molten Moods label, the trio have shared the album’s first single ‘Pick’n’Peel‘, a formidable belter of “raw DnB percussion, oscillating sirens, and industrial undercurrents“.
