Trentemoller – Reworked / Remixed

Music

Following on from 2010’s Into the Great Wide Yonder album, revered Danish producer Anders Trentemoller returns with an 'eclectic' (and this is actually, for once a justified use of the word) new double album called Reworked/Remixed.

With illustrious contributions from Depeche Mode, UNKLE, Modeselektor and Thom Yorke, you'd expect a fair bit from this double CD and on the whole, it does not disappoint.

As expected from an album of this nature, an assortment of remixes from various producers, Reworked/Remixed is, at times, a slightly stop-start affair with one song often being completely dissimilar to the next.

However, the sheer diversity of music here is the album’s main selling point; there should be something for everyone within the rich palette of sounds and styles on offer.

Reworked/Remixed is a beautifully varied collection of songs, with delicate Nordic melodies sitting side by side with folk, rock and sometimes darker, more dancefloor orientated beats.

Trentemoller remains a highly talented producer and his skill shines through on almost all the remixes that feature on the album; notable highlights include remixes of Kasper Bjoke and Depeche Mode. The brilliant Andrew Weatherall mix of Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider Go is a standout track, as is the Kollektiv Turmstrasse Remix of Even Though your With Another Girl.

Overall then, Reworked / Remixed  is a diverse and pleasurable listen which is as likely to be enjoyed by those with a more melancholic electronic bent that Trentemoller is synonymous with, as it is by those making their first forage into his captivating sonic soundscapes.
