In our new video series, we invite artists to dig into the features and workings of some of Arturia’s newest products.

For the first instalment Adelaide-born, Berlin-based producer Eluize gets her hands on the BeatStep Pro and the V Collection 9 to see what she can get out of it.

Eluize is a DJ, producer, vocalist and live act, who’s musical output explores the realms of house and techno, from dubby, spacious electronics to euphoric rave and hypnotic acid.

Her music has been housed on imprints like Craigie Knowes, Lost Palms, Let’s Play House and Of Paradise as well as her own labels Night Tide and Bermuda Series, which she launched in 2016 to explore her mission to find beauty in electronic sound.

Eluize is no stranger to sharing and educating others in production. During lockdown she began sharing her knowledge with budding womxn and non-binary producers via her Patreon, offering tutorials in electronic music production, performance and label management, while a collaboration with Beatport Link saw her leading a weekly video series called Link Up with Eluize.

Arturia’s products have played a huge part in her set up for years, so we thought who better to trial some of the newest versions of the software and hardware.

The BeatStep Pro is a controller and sequencer that allows you to take control of your virtual devices, analog and digital instruments, drum machines and iPad apps, all at the same time. A perfect centrepiece for producers and performers, the composing tool features a looper, randomizer and a wealth of controls that help you to make your ideas a reality.

V Collection 9 is the latest update of Arturia’s software instruments package, which includes modern hybrid synths and emulations of some of the most iconic instruments ever made, including the Korg MS-20 and the SQ80-V. On top of the software synths, you’ll find 14 new exclusive sound banks that feature 832 presets, an addition to the existing bank of thousands of crucial sounds housed in the V Collection.

In this 35 minute video, she lets us into her creative process as she produces a track from scratch using the V Collection 9 and the BeatStep Pro. In the first part she comes up with ideas live and experiments with the sounds and software instruments available in the collection, before evaluating the resulting track – a hypnotic, atmospheric acid electro cut – and taking viewers through the new additions she’s made.
