Club Qu will host the world’s first virtual experience with spatial audio, taking viewers on a journey through the city of Tokyo.

Streaming live on Friday 26th March, ‘Discover Tokyo’ is a 45-minute 360 immersive experience that tours the neon-lit streets to a digital art gallery and a nightclub, with each space soundtracked by original music composed by DJ Nobu, Honey Dijon and Kerri Chandler.

The music was mastermixed using spatial audio, which is surround sound you can hear through any set of headphones. Throughout the virtual experience users will be able to interact with other viewers, order a beer to their front door and enter competitions.

Launched in March 2020 in response to the pandemic, Club Qu are a group of creatives who set out to build an authentic virtual clubbing experience, utilising video game engines and live-low latency interactions. The ‘Discover Tokyo’ project was made possible with the support of Asahi Beer.

Speaking about the ‘Discover Tokyo’ Project and his experiences of playing in the city, Kerri Chandler said: “Nightlife in Japan is one of the most incredible I have ever seen and had the privilege to be a part of. Bars, restaurants and nightclubs are on the next level every time I visit, especially in Tokyo. Around midnight the trains stop running and the clubs stay packed, this is when you will hear the marathon DJ sets from local and international DJs that will last for hours. It’s one of my favourite places to perform. The longest I have ever played in Japan was for 16 hours straight. International DJ’s are invited often and always made to feel very welcome. Quality is very important in Japan and it shows in everything.”
