Video Premiere: Joshua Ward & Conor Rollins – Uncanny Valley
Both artists constructed short pieces in their respective crafts, on a mutually agreed theme, before swapping their corresponding work. Once traded, the creative parties reacted to the work presented through their medium, generating complimentary material to be exhibited simultaneously.
Over 12 minutes the film explores the popular "Uncanny Valley" robotics theory, transferring its application into real-world and personal social experience – how in our current existences, information we consume can seem so familiar yet so distant, comforting and uneasy, real or artificial.
