Premiere: Test Dept – Full Spectrum Dominance (JD Twitch Remix)
On either side of the river people gathered en masse, banners raised in unison, flags flying high in the light winds. A beautiful sea of colours flooded the city coming together to fight back, to fight together, despite their different dreams and their different backgrounds. Today they were one united voice and they had a message that needed to be heard. Roars and jeers echoed through the streets, thousands of voices ricocheting off the buildings creating a disparate sing song. It was likely today nothing would change, but if they didn't try then how would they know. After all it was about being part of something…
As a politically driven group Test Dept were at the forefront of the Thatcherite protests in the 80s. After 17 years apart they recently reformed due to their anger at the current politicial situation in Britain. Optimo's JD Twitch turns his attention to Test Dept on today's premiere, a band he's been a fan of for 35 years since he was a teen, delivering a heavy remix as a follow up to their new album Disturbance, released earlier this year on One Little Indian. Talking of the remix Twitch said "I decided to pay tribute to my 35 years of listening to their music by constructing this remix entirely from samples of their back catalogue”.
