Premiere: Lemna – Moments In Eternal Recurrence


Today, like everyday that had gone before, was calm and quiet. Very little happened from one day to the next, a blissful continuation of the same sights, sounds and faces. Almost as if daily life was run on some sort of loop, as if their every move was predestined and nothing could change its course. She often pondered this as she observed the going ons across the street. Maybe they were all part of something bigger, or perhaps their existence meant nothing at all.

To provide audiences with a glimpse into the world of ENSō Festival, a two-day audiovisual event connected to the REITEN label, Japanese sound artist and producer Kosei Fukuda has gathered a group of artists close to the festival to contribute to the release. Those featured, including the likes of Renick Bell, Rabih Beaini, Yves De Mey, ENA and Lemna, were tasked with merging the improvisational and the contemplation of rhythmic cycles based on the concept of ensō – 円相, which means a hand-drawn circle created by one uninterrupted stroke.
