Premiere: Black Forces – Edgewood

From end to end sleeping bags and half-pitched tents were scattered down the street, but on turning the corner the whole landscape changed. It was a totally different reality; one oblivious and happily detached from the struggles of those only a few steps away. Tents were replaced by corporate buildings and high end chains, while businessmen laughed and joked over their expensed lunches. It was as though a huge opaque wall had been erected that allowed them to continue in their blissful ignorance. After all, if it doesn’t affect them, it doesn’t exist, right?
Mike Simonetti’s 2MR Records welcome Atlantan producer Black Forces to the label for a four tracker with a clear and powerful message. Having previously contributed tracks for Harsh Riddims cassette label as well as releasing a fresh two-track EP last month, this new self-titled release sees him take to the mic for the first time to share his thoughts, frustrations and feelings about racism and systemic controls, over a collection of raw and powerful house cuts.
