Superpitcher - Mushroom

That old school Kompakt / Cologne sound has always been a huge inspiration to me – even though it maybe not be something you can actually hear in my music… but in my dj sets you will hear it…Loooong before Michael Mayer was kind enough to do a remix for me (of the song Apart from my 2014 album), I was deeply inspired by his mix for Fabric mix series. To this day its still one of the best Dj mixes ever made. This Superpitcher track is brilliant, by the way…

  • Jamie Xx - Sleep Sound

Jamie XX is obviously one of the best producers around these days… So young and already way ahead of the game. His EPs and his album releases are truly inspiring – and even though I rarely listen to club music at home, his tracks can be heard at all times of the day, without stressing me out.

  • Sicario Soundtrack - 12 Melancholia

Im a big soundtrack nerd – and one of the recent ones that really inspired me, was the one for the movie Sicario, by icelandic composer Johann Johansson. Ive seen him perform live with the full Icelandic symphonic orchestra at Iceland Airwaves festival in the beautiful concert hall Harpa by the harbour in Reykjavik.

  • Talking Heads Stop Making Sense 1983

I love concert movies too – and I love Talking Heads – they have been a really big inspiration especially on my early solo releases. This concert movie is directed by Jonathan Demme and recorded in 1984. He has since then made it big in Hollywood…

  • Liquid Liquid - Cavern

80s Punk funk and post disco from NYC was such an inspiration for my early album releases….Especially Esg and Liquid Liquid. I actually had the LL percussionist Dennis Young on two of my solo albums… the whole Optimo EP, is a milestone for me to this day.

  • Cliff Martinez - We Don't Have To Think Like That Anymore

Another soundtrack is the one by Cliff Martinez for Solaris…. He is one of the best movie score composers around I think – I like his mix of orchestral and subtle electronic elements in his work.

  • Elemental 7 - Dancing Ghosts

This is some of the earlier techno out there – really inspiring and very fresh to listen to, even to this day… Made in 1984 on a 303 and 808!

  • Joakim - Come Into My Kitchen

Coming out of the french wave of electronic dance music in the late 90s, Joakim and Tigersushi releases were really inspirational to me, back when I started as a producer – and this particular track still sneaks its way into my sets sometimes. I absolutely adore Joakims productions to this day, you can hear he is what I would describe as a real musician, not a DJ that learned how to make music (like myself), but the other way around.

  • David Bowie - Subterraneans

For homelistening these days I cannot seem get enough of the 1977 Bowie album Low. Especially the ambient tracks with Brian Eno (another huge inspiration) are just fantastic to listen to again and again. I am also a very proud owner of a copy of the 1st edition of the vinyl album by the way, hehe.

  • Rebolledo - Pow Pow

Rebolledo is not only a brilliant producer and DJ, he is also a genuine sweetheart! His new album is to the bone monumental and his music videos are sooo good… just check this most recent one.
