DJ Alfredo Influences

Music

"As a brief summary to this list , I would like to say that to choose 8 records of so much fantastic selection that are sounding now on my mind it was a tough job to do, but I am also thankful to have the chance to do it." Best, Alfredo

What a lovely bloke! The great DJ Alfredo stopped by to furnish us with a selection of those records that influenced his roots of playing black plastic in the Baleariacs.

The Dark Side Of The Moon (Full Album)

I remember when I got the album , I listened to it again and again, and realized that the music was a perfect peace of art , and an incredible musical trip with a deeper meaning. Even though it had many variations it became to me a coherent piece. That, at the end and with time, showed me a different way to mix.

I remember when I got the album , I listened to it again and again, and realized that the music was a perfect peace of art , and an incredible musical trip with a deeper meaning. Even though it had many variations it became to me a coherent piece. That, at the end and with time, showed me a different way to mix.

  • Gilberto Gil Toda Menina Bahiana

Before I even started to mix I made a trip to Brasil and visited the carnival in Bahia. It was there where I felt part of the most incredible party I ever had seen , and even now I still think the same. This record reminds me of that amazing party, and later on when I started to play at Amnesia, the track became a spark that always would lighten up any session.

  • Could You Be Loved - Bob Marley (Original Video)

I have listened and danced to this track many times before I went to the concert that Bob Marley offered in Ibiza in 1978. And the concert was pure magic. And when I started playing in Amnesia, six years later, that magic was still alive for me and for the crowd. A warm feeling of love would cover the entire club. Even there, people came to thank me many times , as if I would have made the song myself!

  • Chic - Le Freak

My second time in London, I went to a party, in an apartment, there were lots of people, and only one record played all the time, in a pick up put on repeat: Le Freak. I never before, or even after have seen people dancing for hours to a 5 minutes piece of music. I understood what dance music was to the full. Before that I used to dislike disco music, but this record caught it and never leave me. As a DJ, it introduced me to a style of music that was to become fundamental for my future.

  • Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)

This one came out just before I started to become a DJ, dancing in Pacha, I completely submerged into the bassline of this fantastic record, and was hypnotised by the lyrics and the voice of Annie Lennox. For me it was the root of the euro house. I took different versions with me around the world, and for it´s catchiness, and depending on the moment, I could still play it now!

  • Chip+E + +Like+This

This track blew my mind when I first heard it. It was the first house record I had listened in my life, . I was playing in Amnesia/Madrid in 1985 and an american guy that used to bring records from the USA, told me ” I don´t know if you will like this!” Yes , I love it and it started to change the perception I had about dance music totally. It was not a big hit in my sessions but it was the record that introduced me to Chicago house.

  • Rhythim Is Rhythim - Strings Of Life (Original Mix)

One of the most beautiful pieces of house music ever, with those amazing strings all over, it became a bomb on the dancefloor of Amnesia, and all over the world. I was lucky to obtain one of the first copies in Ibiza and it became an anthem for the club. For me it was the introduction to Detroit techno and opened up my mind to something entirely new at that time

  • Prince - When Doves Cry

I can’t deny that I’m a Prince fan, thus I could not finish this list of tracks without including one of his songs. This is a poem, that I got the privilege to listen to live in a ” Sign of the Times” concert in Milano. It’s a marvellous piece of music with a terrific poem brilliantly sung by Prince. And for me it was a bridge song that would give me the possibility to go from one style to another one, without disturbing the musical adventures that my sets were becoming more and more.
