Catz & Dogz – Influences

Music

Ahead of the release of their collaboration with Eats Everything, due on Pets Recordings on the 14th of October, Catz & Dogz have furnished us with a number of influences that went into the release. You can also catch the duo at the Yousef Presents: Circus Birthday later this month.

Kink - Tropic

This was the first track from KiNK that we heard and it blew our minds. I remember listening to it at home and dancing in the room several times. There is not that many producers that have such a strong specific sound in every production.

  • Daft Punk - Revolution 909

Daft Punk were using side chain compression before it even existed. đŸ™‚ This track was one of our first inspirations and yet it sounds like it was made yesterday.

  • Carsten Jost - Love

This track played in the right moment brings the magic. The arrangement in this track shows how you can make a dark club bomb without lasers and white noise..

  • Tigerskink - Peak

We’ve chose this track not actually because of the track but because of producer. Alex is doing music since I remember and everybody that is into electronic music has one of his records.

  • Dexter - Space Booty

Dexter is since few years one of our favorite producers. Everytime we are listening to his tracks we are blown away by the simplicity and power.

  • Felix Da Housecat - Kickdrum

The frequency of the kick drum played on the right sound system basically goes straight into your head. Magic!

  • Nass - Zwei

This is one of the weirdest tracks. It has very untypical drums and sounds. I remember when we bought this record we were playing it and listening in the studio all the time. It’s a bit like Arto Mwambe but even more powerful.

  • Matthew Johnson - Decompression

This one was made before dub-step existed.

  • Moodymann - Dem Young Sconies

It will always be a mystery how Moodyman does that but it’s just 5 sounds put together and really does the job.

  • Dj Koze - Don't Feed The Cat

One of the best tracks by master Koze. We are still playing it and the way this track is produced, wooooah
