Aggborough and Ashworth have recently been comissioned by No Real Value to produce a club record made up of field recordings. This sounded like it would fit right up our street so enquired about the possibility of running a feature with the pair. The aim of the release is to explore the value in sound in relation to a particular time, event or location and translate it for the world of clubs. Luigi Russolo - Veglio Di Una Città

The Italian Futurist composer has had a massive impact on my work and the way I look at industrial sound in relationship to music. This particular piece reminds me of the kind of industrial sounds that might have filled the Welsh valleys when the mines were actively taking the slate from the hill side and creating the gigantic Slag Heaps on which I am imagining to stand.

Wish Mountain (aka Matthew Herbert) – another found sound legend turning everyday sounds into harsh techno beats, a perfect accompaniment to the jagged landscape of the Slag heap.

A nice slab of old school electronica great for walking around in the misty Welsh mountains in.
Yves De Mey - Metrics

The eerie atmospheres punctuated by harsh sounds drawing comparisons of the brutal marks left in the mountains from the mining industry. This one came out on Opal Tapes, a label that has really pushed me to think about sound in a different way. Love their output, would love to listen to everything they release anywhere, not just on a slag heap.

Some classic dub techno to immerse yourself into whilst you wander in this moonlike environment.
Pink Floyd - Sheep

Well it has a recording of sheep, and it’s Pink Floyd, what’s not to like?!
