8 Tracks: The Raveonettes

Music

The Raveonettes have readied an album of loud, loud surf riffs, dark rock n' roll and crashing caverns of drum. Taking cues from the noise assault of Jesus & Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine, and stirring in the vibe of every film that ever featured a prom queen getting murdered, 'Pe'Ahi'  – named after a Hawaiian surfing mecca – is a genuinely great record, and had us wondering why we don't hear more of this sort of thing. We asked Sune from the band to put us together a playlist of killer surf guitar cuts, and he decided to give us 8 Tracks that are just plain sexy instead. Seeing as we haven't just written a blinder of an album, who are we to argue…

Jody Reynolds - "Black Tarantula" Aka "Tarantula" (1959)

So cool and sexy! You can feel the female tarantula crawling all over you. Perfection.

  • Lcd Soundsystem - Losing My Edge

Amazing tune! Great lyrics and groovy beat. What else is there to say? It’s steamy.

  • Madonna - Justify My Love (Video)

I’m not a big fan of music videos but this video and song is so damn sexy.

  • Prince Kiss *Best Sound*

It’s perky as hell and gets you every time. It’s so incredibly catchy!

  • Missy Elliott - Work It (Hq)

Always loved this tune. So dirty and dancy. It’s universal as hell.

  • Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter

The lyrics might not be obviously sexy but everything else is. My all time favorite tune.

  • Serge Gainsbourg - Ballade De Melody Nelson

Gotta have Serge on the list and this album is mind-blowingly fantastic.

  • Lana Del Rey - Shades Of Cool

All her stuff is severely sexy so let’s just pick one.
