8 Tracks: Of Post Car Crash Recovery With Torus

Music

The glass smashed with a sharp, fierce crack. The wheels ground to a crushing halt and the metal frame of the car began to twist and wharp as it met the side of the cliff face.

Now you've got your head around all of that we will let Torus take you through the latter stages of a car crash. Following the recent release of his EP for Rwina Records, which saw him incorporate elements and influences from the spectrum of electronic experimentation, he takes us through a world of post car crash recovery. Here's his introduction…

"There's something very terrifying and beautiful about car crashes. The malfunction of a manmade machine, the actual physical danger to a human and the aesthetic qualities of a heavily graphically designed functional piece of metal as advertisement surrounded by fireworks all together create this perfect nightmare/fascination for me i guess. I never been in a carcrash luckily, am I appropriating car crashes?"

Ivvvo - Consumed [Dn005]

This track has this engine sound throughout the record which i think gives a beautiful contrast to the glistering pads that create the small pieces of glass moving past your head in slow motion.

  • Whalin - Why Be

Maybe it’s because of the video that I refer this back to crashing, but the lowpass filtered textures in this track give me this same type of feeling of seclusion from the outside world as a racing helmet would. Literally puts you into a perfect accident.

  • Chief Keef Ft. Tadoe - Tec

    Glo.

  • E+E – Fire Gut

Benjy (Palmistry) & I did a show last year together with lotic. I think that’s where I heard this 1 for the first time while he was performing in front of a slowed down motorcycle burnout

  • Huerco S. - A Sea Of Love

    Mental recovery ember.

  • Rap/Rap/Rap - Memorial, Los Angeles

Re-entering every day life through the portal of injury induced social vacuum would probably feel like this.

  • Dream

Either if your survive or die in a car accident the healing images of mechanical devastation will probably have you end up feeling like this. I think. Hospital or post life.
