8 Tracks: Of Discosodoma With Stathis

Music

Colour, light, darkness, disco and enthusiam are the pieces which make up the Discosodoma puzzle. For two years now the guys have been turning heads and moving dancefloors with precision at Dalston Superstore and beyond. Their musical thirst runs deep and their knowledge vast. Since formation they have booked a strong cast of guests including Gilb'r, Rebolledo, Timothy J Fairplay, Marvin & Guy and many many more. Now to see in the crews second birthday they have announced a party with Tornado Wallace on Saturday the 9th of April, two days from now. We caught up with the guys to talk pieces of eight.

More details of THAT party HERE

Land Of Light - Higher Love

It’s still quite early in the night and the smoke machine just got warm and spits out the first fumes. This is usually the first track I put on when I’m doing the opening set at the laser basement.

  • Jamie Paton - Bizarre Dub Feeling (Dub Mix)

Emotional Especial is one of my favourite UK labels and with Paton’s Bizarre Dub Feeling, we usually signal the mood change in the room. It’s the beginning of the end of calmness; just before the dancers start piling up on the floor.

  • Red Axes - Sun My Sweet Sun

The first limbs start to stretch and the dance becomes slightly more intense. Red Axes are perfect for this hour and their latest release on Permanent Vacation is reminiscent of the afternoon skies above the Aegean sea.

  • Jonathan Kusuma - Underpass

The night’s first peak and sweat drops. The dancers are ready to join the trip and Underpass is the perfect, spacey record to bring them on board.

  • Tornado Wallace - Ferntree Gully

An all time favourite peak time record for Discosódoma, Ferntree Gully separates the dancers from those here for just a few drinks; it usually turns into a workout on the dance floor.

  • Von Party & Dreems - Wet Raga

In love this new collaboration on Multi Culti. In every set, there’s always a brand new instant favourite record that I can’t wait to play it for our dancers.

  • Discodromo & Massimiliano Pagliara - Samba Imperiale

One of the sexiest records released in the last few years and it comes with the video to prove it, by our good friend GoldNSour. Happy, trippy and queer!

  • Sade - Surrender Your Love (Kenny Larkin Remix)

After the storm comes that sweet moment, when you know the party has ended but you remain moving on the dance floor, content about what has transpired during the dance. This Sade remix encompasses just that.
