ZULI returns to Lee Gamble’s UIQ with ‘All Caps’
Cairo-based multi-instrumentalist and producer ZULI returns to Lee Gamble’s UIQ imprint for his fourth label release ‘All Caps’.
After the release of his widely acclaimed LP ‘Terminal’ back in 2018, the plan was to follow this up with a dance-floor focused EP, however, four months after the album came out and with the record reasy to go to mastering, ZULI’s gear was stolen and the record was lost.
Since then he’s been rebuilding his library and soundworld, and now he’s ready to release his fourth EP into world, which features one surviving track from the lost release, ‘Penicillin Duck’. The six trackson ‘All Caps’ see ZULI level up, matching furious basslines and staccatto drum patterns with field recordings and fuzzy distortion.
ZULI recently launched his own platform irsh alongside Rama, with their first release coming in the form of a compilation titled ‘did you mean: irish’ which highlights talent in and around Cairo.
