‘Wings Over Wires’ compilation reimagines recording of Palestinian children singing in Gaza
Tunisian producer Hmenou has brought together 14 SWANA artists for ‘Wings Over Wires’, a fundraising project that reimagines a recording by Gaza Birds Singing founder Ahmed Muni Abu Amsha.
The original video surfaced in August of this year, showing Abu Amsha teaching displaced Palestinian children to harmonise and create music with the sounds of the surveillance drones overhead.
After contacting Abu Amsha directly, Hmenou invited a collection of artists including Acidfinky, Kasbah, Syqlone and GoodMostlyBad, to use the recording as source material to create their own tracks which range from DnB to experimental sounds and bass music.
All proceeds from the compilation will be donated to Gaza Birds Singing which will continue to support Abu Amsha’s ongoing work providing music education to displaced children.
