I went to fabric first in 1999. It had been open two weeks and Id justmoved to London so I went with my best friend. We got there and there was ahuge queue all the way round the corner. Coming from Wales we just had shirtson and no jackets in November so we went to the front of the guestlist queueand I managed to catch a glimpse of the list and saw Chris C + 1. So we got infree VIP first time at fabric at 18. It was brilliant. I think we saw DaveAngel, stood in room 2 going crazy, I was a lot more innocent back then.

Themix starts with Hot Natured Time Intro, giving a nod to the recentHot Natured smash single Forward Motionand offering a hint of Jamies future projects with Ali Love and Kenny Glasgowof Art Department fame, before diving headfirst into a funk electro remix ofthe classic Sebastian Tellier La Ritournelle reworked by pops newestheroes Metronomy. Theres not muchroom to exhale from there forward with Jamies own special reedits of Coat Of Arms and Karen Pollock, as well as some defining staples from his heart-winningDJ sets such as Cajmere featuring JamiePrinciple God Sent and Felix Da Housecat Madame Hollywood, an essential track from the early moments ofhis career. What sets this mix apart is an acute attention to the energy in theride. Jamie Jones tackles dance music as a rock or pop star would, making itaccessible and playing with the frequencies to continually keep it enjoyable.

I think I am very conscious of always movingforward especially when Im playing in clubs. Theres something quite naturalin me to keep myself stimulated, as I get bored of things quickly. Im always trying to challenge myself. I could easily make the housetracks that Im known for doing for a good few years but wheres the challengein that? I want to do something different. I dont just listen to dance musicat home but all sorts. When I go out to listen to bands like Little Dragon orMetronomy, its inspiring and makes me want to do something like that butobviously with my take on it. A lot of these bands are doing similar things,Little Dragon is like a DJ set but on a new level. Thats what were going forwith Hot Natured.

With a new album coming up onCrosstown Rebels (Jamies The Lows givesa taste on the fabric mix) as well asa Hot Natured album with Lee Foss and Ali Love to come on his own Hot Creationslabel, its clear Jamie finds it hard to stay still. Constantly evolving, he issurrounded by a growing team of exciting new artists, for whom he has naturallybecome a role model. His visionary style and concepts are effortlessly shapingthe current era of electronic music and will no doubt continue to for manyyears to come.

Its important to have something people can identify with. Someone saidto me recently the good thing about mine, and the whole Hot Natured style is itappears to a wide age range, because the music is never too hard. Its abouthaving fun with music and never serious. Were about enjoying quality music, havingfun with your friends and living and breathing the party and the musictogether.
