Wanton Witch to release eponymous debut LP on Stroboscopic Artefacts
Co-founder of queer collective NON NON NON Wanton Witch has announced details of her eponymous LP for Lucy’s Stroboscopic Artefacts imprint.
The Malaysian-born, Bangkok-based producer delivers an 11-track strong release that flows like a complete soundscape. Employing caustic electronics and diverse sound textures, she challenges traditional track conventions by deconstructing elements of IDM, experimental, hardcore and rave. This mixture of sounds and frantic jumps from genre to genre are a reflection on Wanton Witch’s own experience navigating a hostile world as a queer trans woman in Malaysia.
This album marks the first release on Stroboscopic Artefacts—the Berlin-based imprint run by DJ and producer Lucy—after a year-long hiatus, and signals a new chapter for the label.
Following the LP, Lucy will release a long player named ‘Lucy Plays Wanton Witch’, which will feature re-interpretations of the original tracks, recreating each composition from scratch.
