Strut Records have announced details of the second installment of Trevor Jackson aka Playgroup / Underdog / Output Recordings Metal Dance compilation series. Released this August it follows the first edition (Volume 1) which picked up  widespread critical acclaim last year. Drawing from Jacksons hugely well informed collection of original industrial, post-punk, EBM and new wave, the album is an inspired mix of sounds and styles, mining classics, dub versions, oddities and secret weapons inspired by his formative clubbing years at many of London’s seminal nightlife haunts. 

Metal Dance 2 is another essential selection of anarchic machine music which remains hugely influential on todays generation, informing the sound of groups and labels such as The Knife, Factory Floor, Gesaffelstein, COMEME, DFA & L.I.E.S.

Featuring the likes of Visage, Chris & Cosey, Front 242 & Ministry and taking in further B-Side obscurities of the likes of  Godley & Crme, an early incarnation of Sheffields ABC, Visa Versa,  Germanys Plus Instruments, Spains Diseno Corbusier offshoot Esplendor Geometrico, Italys Neon and Yellow Magic Orchestras Haruomi Hosono out of Japan all feature.  The compilation also travels to Lebanon for  political Arabic proto-techno in the form of Tanki Tanki by Rene Bandaly Family (here re-edited by Rabih Beaini aka Morphosis). Other rarities include CHBB, Craig Leon & Arthur Brown, and Trevor’s own re-edit of Rusty Egans Twilight Zone,

It’ll be the first official release on CD and digital for these tracks. 

The album comes in 2CD, 2LP and digital formats featuring rtwork and graphic design by Trevor Jackson with extensive sleeve notes featuring artist interviews.
