SHANGAAN ELECTRO COMES TO THE UK THIS JULY

Music

It’s been a couple of years since Honest Jon’s bought the frantic sounds of Shangaan Electro from the streets of South Africa to the milder climes of Britain, but if you’re anything like us you’ll still occasionally find yourself to replicate the distinctive dance moves that are an intrinsic part of the movement.

Of course, you’re probably pretty terrible at it, but worry no more, as for the first time ever, this summer will see the stars of the genre lead a series of dance workshops across the UK for dancers of all ages and abilities. The movement’s leader, Nozinja, will be joined by the Tshetsha Boys and vocalists Tiyiselani and Nkata Mawewe to spread the knowledge behind one of the most iconic crazes in recent history.

They’ll be making their way across the UK, stopping in Bristol, London, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield and Glasgow to perform, as well give tuition on specific dates on how to replicate their rubber-limbed antics, so make sure you get down to them! We’ll see you on the dancefloor!
