Scanner Puts Together Definitive Industrial Mix – Listen
UK techno/ industrial mainstay Scanner – aka Robin Rimbaud – has put together an excellent mix of 80s and 90s industrial tracks that serves as a perfect primer for an oblique and wilful scene. At the request of Amélie Ravalec and Travis Collins, directors of forthcoming scene documentary Industrial Soundtrack For The Urban Decay, Rimbaud has trawled through his archives to come up with a superb hour of pipe banging, machine clanking, steam whirring rhythms. Featuring menacing experimentalism from the pioneers including 23 Skidoo, Nurse With Wound, Clock DVA, Severed Heads, Cabaret Voltaire, Einstürzende Neubauten, Throbbing Gristle, Test Dept, Laibach, as well as a selection of rare and unheard cuts from Scanner, this is probably the best introduction to industrial we've heard. Slip on your black leather trenchcoat, turn out the lights, sniff some paint thinner and press play…
