random slices #26
Gert and Uwe are two brothers from Germany who make super-vibrant large scale prints (along with disconcerting ceramic sculptures and strange small collages) that are visually great as well as very humorous. They've got a show on at The Whitechapel Gallery, it's very good. Go and see it. It's free.
CHROME HOOF @ Land of Kings
Land of Kings week takes over Dalston on Sunday for loads of moozak. CHROME HOOF (aka the best live band in the world) are playing. Prog-disco-electro-soul bangers ahoy!
Canal boats are great, people with canal boats are weird. Every year on the May bank holiday, all the weirdos and all the lovely boats congreagate around the big bend on the Grand Union canal near Maida Vale and get all folksy (and pissed). I stumbled across it some years ago right in the middle of a very strong LSD experience, so I can't ever go back – but you should. It's weirdly brilliant (admittedly, probably not quite as weirdly brilliant as I perceived it to be on said occasion).
