Johnny Jewel Releases Surprise New Album ‘Themes For Television’

Johnny Jewel has just released a surprise new album! Themes For Television is now available for streaming, and the "cherry pie" red vinyl will be released on 29th June via Italians Do It Better.

Jewel's sonic fingerprints were all over David Lynch's Twin Peaks: The Return – most memorably the melancholic saxaphone of the 'Windswept' theme, and his on-screen performance with Chromatics at the end of the series premiere. Now we're able to hear some of the material that didn't make the final cut.

“I was about a year deep into recording what would become 'Windswept' when I heard that David was making Season 3,” Jewel explains. “It’s been a year since Chromatics performed at the Roadhouse. With disintegrated memory through the haze of television snow, I wanted to share a glimpse behind the red curtain.”

Working entirely without images, drawing from his own imagined version of what the new show might be, Jewel produced a monumental six hours of material. The 21 tracks that comprise Themes For Television have been culled from that prolific streak of inspiration, sequenced and edited last winter in Tokyo.

Jewel's Chromatics project recently released new single 'Black Walls' and announced an autumn release date for their perma-delayed album Dear Tommy.
