Copenhagen-based DJ and producer Anastasia Kristensen has released Rewire & Acquire, a 19-track compilation to raise funds for Equality Now, a global charity that works actively towards achieving legal equality for all women.
Dropping exclusively via Bandcamp, the V/A, carefully curated by Kristensen, calls on electronic producers from around the world, culminating in a release that touches all corners of the electronic music spectrum.
From percussive jungle, bass and bleepy tech from Tim Reaper, Cressida, and Raji Rags respectively to the psychedelic, trancey productions of D. Tiffany and B from E, via warm, lush house and broken beats from Telefon Tel Aviv, Voicedrone and Gacha Bakradze, the release is sure to have you longing for the dancefloor.
In an effort to raise awareness of existing and rising issues of gender inequality and violence, all profits from the compilation will be donated to Equality Now, who's goal is to achieve legal equality for all women, with a vision of ending sexual violence, human trafficking and normalisation of harmful practices towards women.
Speaking about the compilation, Anastasia explains: “‘Rewire & Acquire’ is a symbol of a creative friendship for me, with all of us united by and for this cause. I find it important to keep that type of creativity alive, especially in these highly challenging times in the world right now. I discussed the cause with the artists and everyone instantly wanted to contribute to this. I am very happy how it shaped up and what better time to release this than on my birthday.”
