Ernest Hood material to be reissued by Freedom To Spend

The RVNG Intl. affiliated sub label has announced a new album called 'Neighbourhoods' by eclectic musician and sound historian Ernest Hood. The album will be reissued having first surfaced many years ago back in 1975. It soundtracks a 1970's assortment of suburbs and reimagines the ambience of such circumstances whilst wandering between abstract field recordings and gracious melodic flutters. The label described the release as follows:

"Sprawling through a haze of zither, synthesizer melodies, and foraged pedestrian sound, Neighborhoods is both a score and documentary composed and directed by Hood to offer, in his words, joy in reminiscence. Whether using environmental sounds or instruments, a sense of musical narration guides Neighborhoods, a strategy Hood tellingly referred to as 'musical cinematography.'"

The release is thoughtful and considered with a portion of the sales being donated to KBOO FM, a volunteer-powered, non-commercial, listener-sponsored, community radio station for Portland, Oregon, the Pacific Northwest, & the World, founded in part by Ernest Hood himself.
