Don’t Be Afraid Unveil New Karen Gwyer Album ‘Rembo’

UK imprint Don't Be Afraid have announced details of their new release to come from acclaimed techno producer and Michigan native, Karen Gwyer.

'Rembo' will be the first full-length LP on the label from the producer who has become highly regarded for her uncompromising and energetic live sets.

The eight tracks on the album are paired together as a call and response through their ambiguous titles. Opening track 'Why Is There A Long Line In Front Of The Factory' is a brooding, cosmic number responded by 'The Workers Are On Strike'- a high energy, drum fuelled track, laced with eery synths.

Gwyer says that she is "trying to challenge a certain way of thinking….I'd like people to shift their thinking in regards to what producers are doing and to acknowledge the fact that there's a lot of decision making happening on a second-by-second basis, and a lot of it is improvisational".

'Rembo' is due for release at the end of June.
