Dj Slugo Releases Response To American Police Brutality

OK, so we're a week late on this one, but it's too good not to post. Chicago ghetto house pioneer DJ Slugo has collaborated with Nicolas Jaar to record a track ruminating on America's current racial tensions – and the end results are excellent. Tapping into a lineage of social conscience that runs from Marvin Gaye's What's Goin On to Grandmaster Flash's The Message, the collaboration, simply entitled Ghetto is an 8 minute epic. Jaar combines warm house pads and slow chugging beats with Slugo's voice breaking down the life of a ghetto dweller, wherever they may be, ultimately looking for some higher redemption.

Ghetto is available to stream below – whether it will see a release proper through Jaar's Other People label remains to be seen –
