Dj Shadow Returns With Run The Jewels Team Up

Crate digger par excellence DJ Shadow is set to return with his first new album in half a decade. Titled The Mountain Will Fall, the record will see Shadow collaborating with Nihls Frahm and – as the track he uploaded this week shows – Run the Jewels. RTJ have swiftly become one of the few hip hop outfits able to unite backpack rap fans and club hip hop heads alike, pushing a rare combination of deft lyricism and jump up rhythms – and Shadow has announced in his press release that they were the only MC he could imagine voicing his current single-

"Occasionally, I make a beat that demands a specific vocal treatment and attitude. In the case of 'Nobody Speak,' I wasn't going to settle for anyone other than Run The Jewels; in my mind, it was them or no one. Fortunately, they agreed, and they took the track to a place I could never get to on my own.  That's the definition of a rewarding collaboration." 

As it turns out Shadow's on point – RTJ show up spitting a barrel of battle lyrics spiked with typically not-so-subtle politics. Our current favourite line belongs to El-P; "flame you're crew quicker than Trump fucks his youngest…"

The Mountain Will Fall is released on June 24th, and Shadow is touring Europe aroud that time – catch him at the following dates:
