Commodo, Clap! Clap!, FYI Chris and more feature on Black Acre compilation
South-West based label Black Acre have announced their annual compilation, aptly titled “A Year Under”, which showcases some of the artists close to the label.
Representing the breadth of talent on the imprint, the 10-track release features contributions from Bristolian Jazz / Post Rock outfit Waldo’s Gift, London-based House weirdos FYI Chris and the subterranean sonics of Commodo.
As well as exclusives, the release also highlights some of the key releases on the label in the last 12 months, including Richard Spaven & Alfa Mist’s “44th Move” project which sees the duo team up with Blue Note & First Word Records signee Takuya Kuroda for the haunting “Hope”, Scott Xylo revisiting his high concept psychedelic world in “Sanctuary”, Waldo’s Gift giving their incredible rework of Commodo’s low-end rich “Hot Pursuit” and DJ Haram’s hypnotic remix of Clap! Clap!’s “Quietude”.
Set for release on 4th December, the release will be accompanied by the launch of an exclusive and limited run of T-shirts.
Discussing this year’s compilation, the label explains: “This year we aim to honour the music that has been our beacon through this turbulent year. A Year Under is a collection of gems dropped throughout 2020 with a few freshly unearthed treasures. Exclusives come from DJ Haram, Montoya and an algorithm melting cover from Black Acre new jacks Waldo’s Gift. On hot Pursuit they add they’re math edge to the lynchian rumblings of long time Black Acre associate Commodo.”
