Billy Brooks seminal jazz funk album “Windows Of The Mind” reissued
Recorded in Los Angeles and co produced by Ray Charles, the album has been a highly sought after collectors item and is regarded as a defining record in the evolution of the jazz funk sound which emerged across the late sixties and early seventies.
Billy Brooks is an unsung hero of jazz, predominantly a session musician who was active over many years. Starting in the fifties he played and recorded music alongside the likes of Lionel Hampton, Cal Tjader and Ray Charles. His album “Windows Of The Mind” has been highly sought after fetching extravagant prices on Discogs. Iconic track “Fourty Days” was sampled by A Tribe Called Quest on “Luck Of Lucien”.
The album is now being reissued by WeWantSounds in collaboration with The Ray Charles Foundation.
