Music

2017 marks 70 years of Indian independence, and as part of this historic year Actress, Jack Barnett (These New Puritans), Indian music producer Sandunes, and AV artist and filmmakers, Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard, have been commissioned by Metal, in partnership with Warp, Barbican Centre and Boiler Room, to collaborate for a three date performance piece titled ‘Different Trains 1947’.

This short movie from Boiler Room explains the project in more depth and includes narration from Actress, Jack Barnett and Stephen Christian (Musical Director for Different Trains 1947 and Creative Director at Warp) of their 7-day research trip to Bombay, India.

Premiering in Liverpool for an open-air concert at Edge Hill railway station, the oldest active passenger railway station in the world on 28th September 2017, followed by a performance at Barbican Hall London 1st October, and Magnetic Fields Festival on 15th-17 December 2017 at a truly epic space, the grounds of a 17th Century palace on the edge of the desert in Rajasthan. Boiler Room will be streaming one of these events, though have not released information on which date as of yet.

Support at these performances comes from London-based Warp Records affiliates, Darkstar.
