The Paloma booker, Tech Talk host and Set in Motion co founder has just released his first EP.

Based in Berlin Tom is a producer and DJ who has worked hard behind the scenes for many years – establishing his sound and what electronic music means to him.

At the tail end of last year he released his debut EP on Temperamental Club Sound – a fun filled record destined to wow on the dancefloor which featured euphoric breaks, acid house, piano riffs and uplifting melodies.

It featured all the wild, hedonistic sounds which typically soundtrack a big night out. Party music with a distinct and unique twist.

We invited Tom to deliver a mixtape which he felt represents his own approach to dance music and that built for clubs.

What he’s turned in is an exquisite two hour accumulation of fast paced, groove focussed house which nods to the early days of Chicago and even the past discotheques of New York.

Listen and read the interview below:

Please introduce yourself…Who are you, where are you and what are you?

Hi, my name is Tom. I love music, producing it and playing it to a crowd. I also manage the program & label for Paloma here in Berlin.

What does your music sound like? Can you draw what you think it sounds like for us (an image from the old internet is acceptable)?

Where was the mix recorded?

It’s an excerpt from my closing set on 20th of November 2021 at Paloma. I played from 3 till 9 am and these are the first two hours of the set.

What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?

Pre or Afterhour

What would be your dream setting to record a mix: Location/system/format?

I much prefer recording a gig because it’s more spontaneous. I seem to think too much when I have to record something at home with no one dancing or reacting. Therefore any club with a decent setup and some nice people dancing will do 🙂

Which track in the mix is your current favourite?

Annette Taylor – Put The Fire Out

What’s your favourite recorded mix of all time?

„Route 8 – Leisure Mix“ is an absolute classic mix that I love to listen to, but recently I’ve been listening to the „nice 4 what – Paloma Quarantine Podcast“ a lot too.

If you could go back to back with any DJ from throughout history, who would it be and why?

Playing b2b with Steffi would be an absolute dream! Her sets a Panoramabar inspired me so much!

What was your first DJ set up at home and what is it now?

I learned playing records with two Reloop 3000s and a Xone:23. Now I only have one Turntable at home to check some records when I pack my record bag.

What’s more important, the track you start on or the track you end on?

The last one is probably more important because that’s what people remember but for me it’s way harder to pick the first one because it always takes me a while to get into the set.

What were the first and last records you bought?

First one was „Efdé – Move On EP“.
Last one was „Known Chic – Dance“.

If this mix was an edible thing, what would it taste like?

Vegan Mettigel – ask a search engine if you don’t know it 😉

Upcoming in the world of…

Trying not to have too many expectations with this pandemic still happening, but I finished a lot of music so definitely some new music from me and also some exciting collaborations on the way!
