R$N Presents: The Noonday Underground Mix With General Public

Music

General Public & Ransom Note bring you the Noonday Underground.

A term coined to capture the bizarre energy of sunday, day Northern Soul dancers in the late 70's, now a monthly live mix series come sunday social.
We champion acts that bubble away just bellow the surface giving opportunity to the lesser known Dj's as well as giving praise to the more established artists on the underground dance music scene.

Each selector has an hour (ish) slot to record. That mix is then released for your listening pleasure on a weekly basis for the following month on the Ransom Note website.

Next up and long overdue is General Public..

First record you bought?

Mmm…bought, I had a HMV voucher when I was about 10. I had no idea what to do with it so my brother said, “why don’t you get that new Ocean Colour Scene album” being the youngest i did exactly what he said. I never got to listen to it once. It stayed on the top of his CD collection in his room. 12”…i think it was Big Love by Pete Heller when i was 16.

What record never leaves your bag?

I always end up throwing Kandenza – Lets Do It in there. Then never get chance to play it though.

What are you listening to at the moment?

Right now… That new album NxWorries – Yeas Lawd! featuring Anderson Paak oowweee. Got into the Vision Of Panorama stuff recently, not sure how i missed that, really nice Balearic sounds coming from their corner. Looking forward to the forthcoming album. Just bagged Expansions by Lonnie Liston Smith on 12” so thats being rinsed a fair bit.

Dream Rider?

Crate Brewery IPA, a whole keg of it and tap installed.

A time machine, one record, one place… where and when?

I’d probably go to the Tomorrow Land festival far in the future when EDM Anthems 50 has been released, Install a turn table and  drop  Tiger – When, and watch everyone start twitching.

Death row meal?

A bucket of Jerk chicken from Top's

Best fact?

My middle name is Brush.

Where can we find you?

Whats next for General Public?

We’ve got Brian Not Brian providing some Going Goodness along with Danielle from Phonica on Saturday 17th December at The White Post Cafe (Hackney Wick). Doors open at 9pm and close at 3am. Fives on the door. Pure Christmas party vibrations!
