Dylan Moran – ‘Go Doof Doof’ R$N Mix

Music

Doof doof. Mega doof doof. Oh and our favourite; bush doof. All typically and of course exclusive to those 'hooning' provisional drivers down under…

We've been accused at times – let's blame Wil for this one – of slowing things down a fair bit at R$N. But we've always been fond of the more heads down doof doof, so it made sense to create a mix series on R$N, especially for that.  And for this week's inaugural 'Go Doof Doof' Ransom Note mix we've got Irish DJ/Producer Dylan Moran. The young Dublin based producer has just released his debut EP 'The Basics' with label Crossworld Vintage. A household name around the major clubs in the Ireland city, Moran has had the pleasure of supporting acts such as Ejeca, Tube and Berger, Third Son, Tom Demac, Monkey Safari, Low Steppa and Golden Boy.

Busy working on various remixes including his recent mix of Brodance's 'Train Of Thought' we can also expect to hear some new material late spring with his forthcoming EP 'Sociological Boundaries' due for release.

Have a listen to his 'Go Doof Doof' mix below.

Oh and if the questions below aren't clear enough, Moran is NOT the chain smoking alcoholic bookshop owner that everyone loves. Although we'd like to see what doof doof beats that Moran would come out with.

Who are you:

My name is Dylan Moran.

Where are you:

I live in Dublin, Ireland

What are you:

I'm not a comedian.

Where was the mix recorded?

The mix was recorded in my back room/studio/dungeon.

What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?

Before or after a night on the loose wouldn't be a bad setting.

What should we be wearing?

Underpants.

Which track in the mix is your current favourite?

Kowton – Doing Nothing.

What’s your favourite recorded mix of all time?

Hmm, thats a tough one. Kink boiler room Moscow is beast.

If you could go back to back with any DJ from throughout history, who would it be and why?

I'd love to go B2B with Steve Aoki and assassinate him.

What's the best thing about making music that goes DOOF DOOF?

It's always exciting, provides an unconditional energy.

Which do you prefer, the first or the second DOOF?

Third.

Did you know that DOOF backwards is FOOD? Which is better?

Both large necessities of my life.

What was it like being in Black Books? G'wan, tell us a joke. (Or, do you think having the same name as a famous comedian helps or hinders you?)

Hahahaha. Sorry, I'm unsure of who you're speaking about?

What’s more important, the track you start on or the track you end on?

Ohhhh. Both are biggies. But you want any floor full when you finish.

What were the first and last records you bought?

I have the memory of a fish.

If this mix was an edible thing, what would it taste like?

Sweet and Savoury.

If it was an animal what would it be?

Man-bear-pig.

Upcoming in the world of Dylan Moran?

I signed the last track in this mix for an upcoming EP with Berlin based label Okkult Music. Sociological Boundaries should be with you before the summer. I'm very excited about this one, things finally seem to be taken place. Apart from that their should be a whole pile more to follow this year, with a couple of tracks I've been working closely on with Darren Devery. Keep an eye on this guy.

Anything else we need to discuss?

We good.
