Watch: Boris Blank Talks #1

Music

As one half of the infamous Yello, Boris Blank became one of the most influential figures in electronic music. His career as a composer spans across 5 decades and he has never been one to compromise the integrity of his music, only ever settling for the very best.

Blank has been keeping busy over the last year, with the twin projects of his new Yellofier app  (a kind of mini sampler/ sequencer packed with Blank’s own sound palette)  and compiling a huge multi-disc retrospective spanning 5 decades of his work. The retrospective, titled Electrified, was selected from mountains of material, curated with the aid of Yello’s long standing engineer and studio collaborator Ian ‘Inky’ Tregoning – we spoke to them both a little while back.

He recently gave a mammoth talk at London's Rough Trade East, conducted by Matt Johnson of The The fame, covering several aspects of his career in music, which we'll be serialising over the next seven weeks.

This opening section sees him tackle the topic of starting out in the music industry, check it out below;
