The winter festival returns to the snow capped mountains of Verbier for two weekends of spirited music across a broad array of styles and genres.

Polaris Festival is a beacon of light in the midst of what can be an otherwise bleary eyed winter. The sun kissed snow glistens white and beaming upon the mountain ranges of Verbier as revellers descend for a dance in a unique setting.

This year the organisers have held no punches having invited a prolific array of musicians and DJ’s to the slopes in which will be an extravagant edition of the longstanding festival series.

Names announced include the likes of Dixon, Natasha Diggs, Dj Deep and more.

Polaris Festival will take place across two weekends in November – beginning Friday 17th and closing Saturday 25th.

Once again this year the festival has teamed up with Montreux Jazz Festival, building upon a relationship which has served them well in recent years. Polaris will also reinforce its relationship with Detroit once more, inviting some of the most innovative producers from the Motor City to the mountains.

We have spotlighted below who and what you need to see this season…

Marcel Dettmann

Perhaps one of the most heavy hitting DJ’s on the line up this year. Marcel Dettmann is well known for his unique brand of Techno which has soundtracked dancefloors the world over and lead him to become a resident at Berghain. However, from a musical perspective Marcel’s taste is equally versatile – spanning a breadth of styles and genres which include Post Punk, EBM, Electro and beyond. This set could be unique and interesting depending on the mood of this revered selector.

  • Paula Tape

Paula Tape is all about energy – soundtracking a particular moment in time be it chilled or riotous. Her musical repertoire is broad and she is as suited to soundtracking dreamy balearic settings as she is dark pumping rooms. Her music is often light and playful, featuring lots of drums, percussion and melodies built for those in the mood to groove.

  • Marcellus Pittman

Easily one of the nicest guys in Electronic music – Marcellus Pittman is always about good vibes and smiles. The Detroit DJ and producer is a legend and remains as innovative and dynamic in the booth as any of his counterparts. Oveer the years he has moved through a variety of sounds, constantly evolving between weight Acid, Funk, Disco, Soul, House, Hip Hop and everything in between. It’s all good here.

  • Hunee

A real DJ’s DJ. The type who is able to make his eclecticism work in a unique and unrivalled fashion. Expect to hear sounds from all over from a digger who refuses to be pigeonholed or seek inspiration from one source. The Berlin based DJ has had a meteoric rise and remains pivotal at the forefront of the ‘digging’ scene.

  • Ron Trent

House music royalty in the form of a legend. Ron Trent has released some of the most influential records from Chicago over a long and celebrated career in music. True to the origins of the sound his music is always soulful and elegant – this is Deep House at its very, unrivalled best. In the booth his sets channel numerous influences but always seem to hit that sweet spot turning every club into a feel good house party.
