Experimentalists Khôra and Mas Aya to release album on Marionette
Canadian sound artist and composer Matthew Ramolo aka Khôra links up with compatriot and multi-instrumentalist Brandon Miguel Valdivia aka Mas Aya for a mind-expanding, meditative outing on Marionette.
Two artists who share 15 years of music making, their new album ‘Primordial Mind’ vaults between free jazz, dub, raga, ambient, and ritual music, evoking Don Cherry, Jon Hassell, Popol Vuh et al.
Described as “a heady brew of rhythmic influences and advanced electronic processing“, the album’s framed as a tactile work of “primal drum patterning and psychoactive, ceremonial melodies“.
Mas Aya is the moniker of Brandon Miguel Valdivia, acclaimed Nicaraguan-Canadian composer, producer, and musician whose electronic and jazz inspired works creatively interlace Colombian, Cuban, and a wide array of traditional music. Valvidia has worked with the likes of Laraaji, US Girls, and Arnold Dreyblatt.
Khôra is an occult outlet for multi-instrumentalist, producer, and writer Matthew Ramolo.
Marionette is home to releases by Burnt Friedman, Max Loderbauer, Soundwalk Collective, Valentina Magaletti & more.
The album’s out today, tune in for an entrancing, syncretic trip across time zones, and planes of consciousness. Exceptional esoteric music for inner odysseys.
