Following on from the success of ‘Art Below Regents Park’ during ‘Frieze season’ just 12 weeks ago, Art Below are proud to present ‘Art of Angel’, a transformation of the Angel Tube Station concourse into a public art gallery starting 9th January.

Billboard space normally used for advertising is now featuring a mix of urban and contemporary art with a diverse range of techniques and influences by artists from around the globe.

On the 19th January Art Below are launching a 4 day exhibition of the artists original work at The First Floor Gallery of The Candid Arts Trust, a Victorian warehouse with over 6,500 sq ft of exhibition space, located directly behind Angel station, and just 5 minutes walk from The London Art Fair at the Business Design Centre (18 – 22nd Jan)

Throughout the 4 day exhibition Art Below will be staging ‘live painting performanc- es’ on a large scale by acclaimed artists including Inkie, Johan Andersson, and Johan Wahlstrom, giving visitors an intriguing insight into the creative process and techniques involved in their work.

As well as photography and painting there will also be sculptural work by Schoony and Art Wars, and projected video work by Eleanor Lindsay Fynn and Open Prize winner Sidsel Christensen represented by The Open Gallery.‘Finding My Wings’ asesArtists Include

Below thrive on providing artists with access to advertising space in the London Underground where nearly 2 million people travel every day. Their mission: To enrich the everyday life of the traveling public by giving fresh insight into the very latest in art, illustration, photography, fashion, whilst at the same time providing a platform for emerging talent.

Such exhibitions involve taking over entire walkways, escalators, platforms and passenger lifts, at home and abroad in Berlin and Tokyo with further expansion planned for 2012 in USA and Asia.

Art Below play host to a rich and diverse portfolio of talent, including leading illustra- tor Jon Burgerman, 3D Artist Jeffrey Robb, and the world’s number one street artist Banksy. They also support new emerging talent and most recently exhibited work by the 20 finalists of The Saatchi Gallery’s New Sensations across the whole length of a Regent’s Park platform to co-inside with The Frieze Art Fair, 2011.

This unique medium, based on a philosophy concerned with ‘openness’, continues to provoke, surprise and challenge following the Gallery’s recent double exhibition, ‘Video Painting: The First 10 Years’ and ‘The Open Prize 2011’.
Video painting Series will be projected as part of the Art Below exhibition displays showcasing a variety of content by some of the founding gallery artists as well as
contributions by emerging artists whose work was short-listed for the annual Open Prize. Open Gallery is based in Angel and exhibits Video Painting nationally and internationally including at the Hayward Gallery, the ICA and at Pulse Miami.
