To kick off a year of 10 year anniversary celebrations Soundway Records announce the first of several special events happening around the world this year. Taking place in a secret East London warehouse venue on 20th April , 'Dancing Time With Soundway: 10 year anniversary party' will see the unstoppable Quantic celebrating the release of his latest cumbia project on Soundway 'Los Miticos Del Ritmo'. Portuguese / Angolan Batida will be bringing his electric live show to London for the first time featuring dancers, MCs, VJ, live samples and percussion. Batida's eponymous debut album comes out on 26th March through Soundway Records.
Soundway head honcho Miles Cleret and Sofrito's Frankie Francis will be keeping the tropical madness going until the small hours, digging into their sizeable record collections to spin the hottest in Afro, Latin and tropical dance music.
Reissue label Soundway Records was conceived in 2002 by Miles Cleret whilst returning from Ghana with a hoard of dusty old 45s and LPs that had not been heard outside the former Gold Coast since their original release. Since their debut release 'Ghana Soundz', Soundway has steadily followed the influence of African rhythms across the Atlantic Ocean into the Caribbean and northern coast of South America where they met the likes of calypso, cumbia, champeta and fused with the increasingly popular North American output of funk and soul music
A series of celebrated compilations and re-issues from around the globe have followed and now in 2012, Soundway enters a new chapter as it releases new material for the first time from a carefully selected handful of contemporary recordings artists.
Los Miticos Del Ritmo, led by Will ‘Quantic’ Holland and featuring Colombian and UK players put together especially for this night, will be bringing their dancefloor quaking cumbia to East London for a very special, one off performance.
Tickets will be £15.
A limited number of discounted early entry tickets will be available £9 + booking fee (arrive pre 10.30pm – if you arrive post 10.30pm you will need to pay the extra £5 to gain entry)
