Spanish Unit returns for the second year in a row this Sonar week 2012. A

week fully-loaded with parties throughout the city, attracting a huge crowd up for some serious fun and ready to celebrate their passion for electronic music.

 

To add to the the incredible Off-Sonar selection this year we present Spanish Unit – bringing together the best underground house and techno artists from Spain. We are providing a unique meeting point for our loyal followers that want to listen to our artists and catch up on their latest creations.

 

Last year Spanish Unit was one of the most talked about and celebrated Off-Sonar parties, 

and this year it returns with all the founding members, as well as some new faces already tearing it up on the international scene.

 

Spanish Unit is not just a party: it’s a connection between artists that makes it stand out above the music; a rapport between friends, between colleagues. A feeling which is automatically transmitted to the public.

 

Spanish Unit is a feeling of unity shown through music, and through its parties.

 

From all 4 corners of the country, our top artists will be in the cockpit, giving it their all to show their achievements over the last year.

 

From Soundfate and Tronic comes the godfather of melodic techno. Dosem is one of the most acclaimed international artists of the year, bringing heart and soul to the party on a cosmic beat journey.

 

Los Suruba need no introduction. Owners of one of the most powerful Spanish house labels, their tracks are ever present on the playlists of many big new-school artists such as Jamie Jones. They act as the powerful hands of Spanish Unit.

 

Triumph is the boss of Espai Music, a label loved by the great Laurent Garnier who plays their releases worldwide. Apart from his huge presence and great taste in music, Triumph brings body and elegance to the party.

 

After traveling the globe, Edu Imbernon returns to Spanish Unit with his signature sound and all the greatness that has seen him released on some of the best labels in the world. Alongside Los Suruba, they are proud to have a music video featured on MTV. The head of Eklektish continues to reach the number one spot, and can be seen as the solidly grounded feet of Spanish Unit.

 

Ramiro Lopez is growing in popularity faster than most of the new breed DJs and producers on the national scene. Recently nominated as best breakthrough DJ, he continues doing what he knows best – producing and playing tracks for the dancefloor; music to have fun to.

 

Ivan Picazo continues relentlessly with his very distinctive sound. Able to represent in any style, this Catalan artist is being highly spoken of by iconic labels such as Siesta Records.

 

One D is the newest addition to Spanish Unit. After an incredible year, the Girona resident has seen half the country fall in love with his truly elegant productions. We cannot wait to see what he has to bring to this unique crew.

 

And if that wasn’t enough… we have the pleasure of welcoming back a star straight out of the upper echelons of the scene. This special secret and his productions are reknowned worldwide. He is without a doubt one of the best artists Spain has to offer. Who could it be…?

 

And Spanish Unit wouldn’t be the same without another key artist. From Suara, the only Spanish label in the top 50 most charted labels in the history of Resident Advisor, we have the luxury of hosting Suara Big Cat – another great DJ and producer who is making 2012 his greatest year.
