You might know The Meltdown as Rosss brilliant radio show on Ministry. It’s a two hour guide to 12 inches old and new, album tracks, B-sides, remixes and the latest singles about to hit proper records shops. The Social Meltdown is Ross new weekly residency where every Friday you can find him playing the very best music all heavy with funk, bass and soul. Mr Allen has been in and around The Social and its spiritual predecessors from the beginning, way back up the top of Portland Street at The Albany. We are delighted to have him on board. We are delighted to have him on board for a two floor New Year’s Eve special featuring Jonathan More (Coldcut), Ashley Beedle, Phil Asher, Jay Strongman, and Social residents The Heavenly Jukebox and Droyd and Fones in the Top Bar.

” We are really proud to present the Social Meltdown this NYE at the Social and have a line up that does what we have been doing week in week out since September putting the Best in the West (End !).

We were pleasantly surprised that we could get so many club land legends into one small space but that is the mag…ic of The Meltdown & The Social. DJ’s love doing it ! Its not about banging out a one dimensional this type of set or that style of music for your alotted slot. All the DJ’s that we have picked are classic London selectors that will dabble in any music that touches their impeccable sensiblities.

In case you are unaware here is a run through of the DJ’s. It is to list rich in the history of London’s nightlife both today and of yesteryear, none of them need much introduction but here goes

PHIL ASHER – One of the finest DJ’s in London, known for his soulful house sets and being a pioneer in the broken beat scene – a native and proud west Londoner Phil is a classic London DJ as his roots and loves are steeped in all black musics but go a lot further. Tonight he will be in full on party mode.

JONATHAN MORE – What can you say ? Apart from what Jon has said already ‘Hey Kids What TIme Is It ?’ – prophetic indeed ! One half of DJ/producer legends Coldcut and pioneer of all manner of music through his DJ sets, productions and label Ninja Tune. A true London originator on so many levels. We are chuffed that he has decided to come and play.

JAY STRONGMAN – Another London legend, the man behind the decks at a 1000 warehouse parties (well may be not that many but may be !). Jay recently played at The Meltdown and loved the vibe so much when he came over from his now home of LA that he wanted to come back and play what better night to get another classic London party DJ back than NYE.

ASHLEY BEEDLE – Our first booking for NYE, man of the people, producer extraordinaire and chief rocker, our mate and yours Ashley is a Meltdown man through and through – he gets the vibe, always rocks the house and will be more than doing so on Dec 31st

Expect a clash of styles that is part classic London Warehouse party/part Paradise Garage but with an attitude and sound which is still looking and playing the best of now. To quote a Hip Hop classic none of this lot will ever stop looking for that perfect beat…
